Giving back to the community through involvement and charitable contributions is a key component of my real estate business.  Everyone needs to care about the community they live, work and play in.  I choose charities that I am truly passionate about.  In addition to coordinating and attending events, I also make donations of cash, food, gifts and gift baskets to several nonprofit and charitable organizations.  Here are just a few of my contributions for 2015.

I host an annual Gulf Coast Golden Retriever Rescue Garage Sale at my home.  Gulf Coast Golden Retriever Rescue is a nonprofit all volunteer organization devoted to the rescue and care for displaced golden retrievers.  100% of the proceeds from the garage sale go to the medical care of the dogs including veterinary exams, spay/neuter, vaccinations, surgery, heartworm tests and prevention, flea prevention, and all required medical treatments and medicine needed to save their lives.   Our 2016 sale is March 18 and 19.  We are always collecting donations.

I donate door prizes for the Charlotte Classics and Cruisers monthly car cruise in at McDonald’s in Murdock, Port Charlotte, FL.  The show is located directly across the street from our Re/Max Palm Realty office and is held the second Friday of every month.  The DJ announces my name and Re/Max Palm Realty several times at each event.  This is the longest running car show in south Florida.  Proceeds support Ronald McDonald house.  This is a passion of mine because my grandson has autism and epilepsy.  He spent over six months in the hospital and his mother and father stayed at a Ronald McDonald house.

Our Re/Max Palm Realty office participates in the American Cancer Society Port Charlotte Relay for Life each year.  I volunteer, walk and donate to this event because I want to help in the effort to find a cure for cancer.  We all know someone who has cancer, had cancer or who has lost the battle with cancer.  We held a garage sale fundraiser prior to the event and our theme for the event for 2015 was movies and we selected the movie UP.  Our slogan was “Up with the Cure!”  In 2016, I became a member of the ACS Cancer Network dedicated to urging lawmakers to increase funding for cancer research and prevention programs that will save more lives.   This is my favorite charity each year.

Our Re/Max Palm Realty office was a sponsor, donor and participant in the Chick-Fil-A walk/run this year.  My day was spent cheering the runners as they crossed the finish line and awarding them with a cow bell on a lanyard with Chick-Fil-A on one side and Re/Max Palm Realty on the other side.  Our Re/Max Palm Realty office had the Re/Max tent set up to serve hot cocoa and candy canes and we had a snow making machine.  Proceeds from this event were to help the Charlotte County Homeless Coalition.  This was an amazing event that I certainly will participate in again each year.

I belong to three car clubs in Charlotte County, Florida.  Each of our car clubs sponsor car shows and make donations to local organizations.  One of the car shows I participated in was the Harbor Corvettes “A Holiday Happening Corvette and GM Show” held at Palm Auto Mall in Punta Gorda, FL. There were over 200 cars in attendance.  Trophies were awarded to different classes of cars, and there were door prizes, a Chinese Auction, a Silent Auction, 50/50 raffle and local food and auto related vendors.  I donated door prizes, clipboards for judging, silent auction items, and a gift basket for a raffle. I manned the door prize table for the day.  Portions of the proceeds from this show were donated to Tidewell Hospice, Crossroads for Youth, and Jesus Loves you Ministry.
