Do you want to go to lunch or dinner, walk along the beach, see a beautiful sunset, or do some fishing on a pier? You can do it all at one location – Sharky’s on the Pier. Sharky’s is a beachfront restauarant and tiki bar located in Venice, FL. Here is a link to their web site where you can read about the history, view their menu, shop their online store and see some great photos and videos: http://sharkysonthepier.com/
Sharky’s menu provides a variety of options such as appetizers, salads, desserts, seafood, sandwiches, steak and pork, pasta and a large selection of drinks including tropical and frozen. You can enjoy live musical entertainment Wednesday to Sunday.
While there you can also visit Papa’s Bait Shop located right on the 700-foot Pier. They have live bait, shark’s teeth, snacks and Sharky’s apparel. If you are a visitor and need some gear, they also have rentals of rods, reels, Florida snow shovels, umbrellas and beach chairs. There is no fishing license required to fish from this Venice Municipal Fishing Pier.
Don’t forget your stroll along Venice Beach where you can sit back and soak up some sun, hunt for some shark’s teeth or even collect some sea shells. Venice is the Shark Tooth Capital of the World. Did you know that sharks continually shed their teeth and grow new ones? You can use a tool to dig for sharks teeth or just spot them along the shore. Besides sharks teeth, fossils and other marine creatures are found in this area.
When we have visitors in town, this is a place I like to take them. This is one of my Walkabout Wednesday articles. Stop by each Wednesday to see a new place to visit.
